I am Travis Trayler, the counselor at McClure Elementary. This is my 10th year in McKinney ISD and my 5th year at McClure. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2007 and began teaching in the fall of that year. I taught 2nd grade for 3 years and 3rd grade for 3 years. I saw some amazing achievements with students while in the classroom and during that time I felt a strong desire to help students with their social and emotional difficulties. In 2010, I decided to go back for my master’s degree in counseling at A&M Commerce. I had some incredible experiences and learned a lot through their counseling program.
I joined McClure in 2013 and have absolutely enjoyed my time working with the students, staff and families at McClure. This is a wonderful community and I feel very fortunate to be at such a great school. During my time at McClure, I have seen some remarkable things happen with students through guidance, individual counseling, and especially group work.
Group work is so beneficial because all children can benefit from positive interactions with peers that cultivate social and emotional growth. Group work is also very advantageous because it leads many children to discover that they are not the only one struggling with a specific problem and that other students have similar experiences and feelings, which can be can be very powerful.
I live in Melissa with my wife Holly, my daughter Madison who is in 5th grade and my son Cason who will be in 2nd grade this year. I enjoy singing and playing guitar and spending time with family and friends. I am excited about my fifth year as a McClure Marshal and I know Madison and Cason are thrilled about the 2017-2018 school year.
I look forward to supporting you and your child in a successful school year. Please do not hesitate to call or email me with any questions or concerns regarding your child’s social, emotional or academic progress. I can be reached at 469-302-9442 or [email protected].
